Quick answer
A useful roster needs complementary roles: dependable damage, economy, support and control. Compare Damage, SPA, Range, placement limits and upgrade cost before judging a unit by rarity.
How units work
Units are the core defenders placed during a stage. Most are obtained through Summon, then improved through levels, upgrades, evolution, stat values, traits and equipment.
The three base combat stats
Damage
Damage is the amount dealt by an attack before mode modifiers and other effects. A high number is useful only if the unit attacks often enough and covers the required lane.
SPA
SPA means seconds per attack. Lower SPA generally means faster attacks, but animation timing, area type and ability behavior can affect real performance.
Range
Range defines where the unit can target. Large range can cover route intersections or several lanes, while small range demands more careful placement.
Team roles
| Role | Job |
|---|---|
| Carry | Converts most team resources into wave and boss damage |
| Economy | Generates Yen or another in-stage advantage |
| Support | Buffs allies or improves team output |
| Control | Slows, stuns or otherwise prevents leaks |
| Flex | Fills a map-specific gap such as early waves or air coverage |
Rarity is not the full answer
Rare, Epic, Legendary, Mythic, Exclusive and Secret describe acquisition bands, not guaranteed usefulness. Placement limits, cost, passives, evolution and mode rules can make a lower-rarity specialist valuable.
Strengthening a unit
- Level units you actually deploy.
- Check the full upgrade curve before committing stage resources.
- Use evolution when the improved form changes long-term value.
- Apply Traits based on the unit's job.
- Build Equipment around the same job rather than unrelated headline stats.
